Maca--or “Peruvian ginseng”--is a root-like superfood that works to boost energy and stamina. It is high in protein, dietary fiber, and important micronutrients like vitamin B, vitamin C, vitamin E, calcium, potassium, iodine, copper, iron, zinc! Coupled with Aketta cricket powder, you are bound to finish your smoothie with all the nutritional benefits you hoped for.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cup homemade almond milk
- 1 cup organic strawberries
- 1/2 organic banana
- 1 tablespoon Aketta cricket flour
- 3 tablespoons vanilla protein powder (your favorite brand)
- 1 tablespoon organic maca powder
Directions
In a blender combine all ingredients, pulse for 5 seconds, then switch to blend mode for 10-15 seconds until you've reached the consistency you like. Add more almond milk or even coconut water for a thinner drink.
Garnish with Aketta whole-roasted crickets as pictured!
NOTE: Nutritionally, Brazil nuts are an excellent source of dietary fiber and various vitamins and dietary minerals. A 100 g of Brazil nuts contains rich content of thiamin, vitamin E, magnesium, phosphorus, manganese and zinc. Brazil nuts are perhaps the richest dietary source of selenium. Add to smoothie if desired!
