You might be asking yourself what #BugsEndHunger means.
To start, Little Herds is an educational nonprofit based in Austin, Texas, teaching youth about insects as a resource-efficient, nutritious and delicious food. (Sound familiar?) They use experiential STEAM based programs; family friendly events; public advocacy outreach; and partnerships with educators, universities and other organizations to spread their message.
This year, Little Herds has partnered with Seeds of Action on the 2017 #BugsEndHunger campaign. Seeds of Action’s co-founder Jeremy Connor, has gone on a 30-day bug diet to prove how bugs can end the global hunger crisis. The nutritional value of eating insects such as crickets are a known fact to many. Proceeds from the campaign will fund the development and deployment of a visual, farming insect guide (FIG) to be used in developing countries and crisis areas.
Little Herds and Seeds of Action are not the only partnerships going on. Their event “Bug Fest” will be hosted on June 10th, 2017 at in.gredients, and Aketta has partnered with Spun Ice Cream to create a delicious treat! We are premiering two ice cream flavors you are bound to fall in love with: Cricket Crunch and Cricket Crumble.
If you’re in Austin, Texas, be sure to come out to the event! We would love to have you, as the world is better off with sustainable, nutritious and delicious treats.
