Sustainable agriculture is the production of food, fiber, or other plant or animal products utilizing techniques that protect the environment, public health, human communities, and animal welfare. Normally, sustainable agriculture integrates three main goals--environmental health, economic profitability, and social and economic equity. This agriculture allows the production of healthful minded food without ruining the future generation's ability to do the same.
This form of agriculture is dependent on farming sustainably. This is based on an understanding of ecosystem services, and the study of relationships between organisms and their environment.

Sustainable farms can produce the positive without causing the negative. This means they grow crops and raise animals without relying on toxic chemical pesticides, synthetic fertilizers, or genetically modified seeds. It’s also important to note that these practices also don’t degrade soil, water, or other natural resources.
Sustainable farms also protect biodiversity and foster the development and maintenance of healthy ecosystems. They do this by growing a wide array of crops and by simultaneously utilizing techniques like crop rotation.
Protecting the Health of the Public
Human health should never be put into question when it comes to food production. Hazardous pesticides aren’t used in sustainable farming, meaning the farms are able to grow foods that are safer for consumers and for environments.
This is the same with sustainable livestock farmers. They effectively raise animals without dangerous practices like use of nontherapeutic antibiotics.
Sustaining Farming Communities
Sustainable farms are known to enhance local and regional economies. They create jobs and build strong communities by providing farmers, farm workers, food processors, and others employed in the food system with a livable wage and safe and fair working conditions.
Upholding Animal Welfare
Sustainable farmers also treat their animals with much more respect and care. Farmers raise their livestock on pasture, which enables their animals to move freely, consume a natural diet, and avoid the stresses and illnesses associated with confinement.
