What did you expect the Aketta products to taste like?
Crickets! The Aketta whole roasted crickets are light, nutrient rich plus my buddies already think I’m a chia crunching Topanga hippy, so this simply raises the bar!
What did it taste like?
The best crickets I’ve ever tried.
What do you think the Aketta product would go well with?
Avocado, avocado toast, and I tried them on pizza for the kids.
I ended up getting called back in for another transplant and ate the crickets with avocado for dinner and felt plenty of energy all night. I had nothing else to eat and had to go in to work all night at 10:30 pm with no dinner. I just spread the avocado on some sourdough bread and tossed a handful of crickets on a couple pieces. That and a big cup of coffee got me through the next 8 hours no problem. You can disregard the fact that I ate 2 donuts the next morning at 5:00 am!
What was the biggest thing you had to overcome to try it?
I tend to overthink everything and started wondering about how they process waste.
Did you prefer the Aketta whole roasted crickets or the Aketta cricket flour?
The flour with turmeric was much better. Still not all that mentally prepared to enjoy crickets as a regular snack.
How much do you personally taste with your eyes?
More than I realize.
Do the favorable environmental sustainability aspects of the product persuade you?
Absolutely. I’m a physician and I think people have the means to heal many chronic conditions themselves with healthier decisions for the most part.
